Flight Compensation Calculator for African Travellers — 2026
Interactive calculator to check compensation for delay, cancellation, or denied boarding based on the operating carrier. Covers EU261 (KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, Brussels, ITA, TAP), UK261 (BA, Virgin Atlantic — relevant for African-UK diaspora), Saudi GACA (Saudia, Flynas — relevant for Hajj/Umrah from LOS, JNB, NBO, CAI, ACC), Canada APPR (Air Canada, WestJet — for Africa-Canada diaspora). For African carriers (South African Airways, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian, Air Peace, RwandAir, Royal Air Maroc, EgyptAir), national civil aviation authority rules apply with right-to-care + refund obligations but no EU261-equivalent fixed compensation.
How to use: identify the operating carrier on your boarding pass (the airline actually flying the metal, not the codeshare marketer), select the event (delay / cancellation / denied boarding), enter delay hours if applicable, pick the distance bracket and the cause. The calculator shows the applicable framework + estimated compensation + AirHelp deep link for free verification.
Editorial note
Amounts are statutory and paid in the framework’s currency (EUR / GBP / SAR / CAD). Intra-Africa flights (e.g. JNB-NBO, LOS-ACC) operate under national civil aviation authority frameworks — SACAA, NCAA, KCAA, GCAA, ECAA — which provide right-to-care + refund but no fixed compensation. For disputed cases on EU/UK/GACA-eligible flights, AirHelp manages the claim for 25-35% of compensation obtained, only if the claim succeeds. No cost on loss.
